The 7-Day Journey
Join us as we move the horses to the start of the ride — travelling from farmland into the reserve while riding amongst the large, loose herd. At the end of the week, you’ll help take them home again.

This is a rare behind-the-scenes experience: cantering alongside a loose herd, witnessing how the horses move naturally, and sharing their full journey from beginning to end.

Limited spaces available. Suitable for confident intermediate riders and above.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Run With the Herd

Hello and Welcome!

Arrive in the morning and settle in at the farmhouse. After lunch, we meet the horses and prepare for our first ride.
In the afternoon, we travel with the herd — riding from the farm, across farmlands, and into the reserve. This is the opening stretch of our adventure and takes us to the starting point of the 5-Day Epic, which begins tomorrow.
Evening sundowners, a campfire, and horses grazing nearby.

Estimated total riding time: 3 - 4 hours.

Day 2 – Settling In

Today the rest of the group arrives. We meet everyone, enjoy lunch together, and then head out for our first group ride.
This ride is all about settling into your horse, your tack, the terrain, and the pace.
It’s also a perfect day for wildlife sightings — zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, nyala, and more.

Estimated total riding time: 3 - 4 hours.

Day 3 – The Waterfall

We ride deep into a dramatic rocky gorge, following winding tracks that lead to a secluded waterfall.
This is a stunning, immersive day with varied terrain and lots of time in the saddle.

Estimated total riding time: 4 - 5 hours.

Day 4 – River Crossing & Wilderness Plains

Today we explore a wide, beautiful section of the reserve bordering the river — grasslands, forests, open plains, and plenty of game.
There are more opportunities for cantering, and the landscapes open up beautifully.
In the late afternoon, you may join a bakkie ride or walk to a spectacular lookout point over the river, with great chances for spotting wildlife.

Estimated total riding time: 3 - 4 hours.

Day 5 – Summit the Kranz

In the morning, we climb a massive kranz that overlooks the entire valley — an unforgettable viewpoint.
After lunch, we explore a different part of the reserve: gentler terrain, river loops, and more chances for long, flowing canters.

Estimated total riding time: 4 - 6 hours.

Day 6 – Riding the Horses Home

After a relaxed morning ride, we set out with the horses on their journey home.
Most of the herd will be moving freely around us as we make our way back through the reserve and across farmland.
We end at a holding farm opposite the river, where the horses are loaded and taken back to the home farm.
Spend the afternoon relaxing at the farmhouse and preparing for your departure.

Estimated total riding time: 3 - 4 hours.

Day 7 – Goodbye for Now

No riding today.
Enjoy breakfast, say goodbye to your horse, and begin your journey home.

Please note: Routes and daily plans may change depending on weather, wildlife movements, and local conditions.
